If you’ve been writing on the web for some time, you might well be familiar with Google alerts. These are simple notifications you can set up so that when a news story breaks on a given topic, you get a notification in your inbox.
Google alerts are the best part of 20 years old, but they remain useful for writers who may have to come up with regular content on an industry-specific subject. About a year ago, however, Google introduced a more immersive feature called Keen.
It’s good fun to have a play around on this. Where it differs from basic alerts is that it’s mixed-media, so you’ll see blogs, how-to guides and videos crop up on whatever subject you ask for. It might remind you of Pinterest, in fact.
If you’re looking for inspiration, why not give it a go?
